Hyatt Vineyards
We had only planned to hit three wineries on day one. But we still felt strong after those three, and their were so many in the area we stopped here on a whim. Hyatt is one of the larger wineries in the area (30,000 cases annually). The tasting room was well done though, and it was in a great setting surrounded by the vines.
They had a huge list of wines to try including an impressive list of reserve wines. Lucky for me that my Rattlesnake Hills Passport allowed me to taste the reserve wines for free. First, we tried the chardonnay. It was great and tropical and not at all buttery or oaky, a very pleasant crisp wine. Next we had the black muscat rose. This wine was interesting to say the least. It smelled like a gewurztraminer, tasted of strawberries and red fruit, and had a nice acid sweetness combination. We also tried their syrah, riesling (too sweet, not enough acid), and their viognier/chardonnay blend. But tasting fatigue was starting to set in.
