Tasting Notes:

This is not your average sweet chenin blanc. This wine is bone dry. There is almost no fruit on the nose. The wine smells like wet rocks, or the air just after a thunderstorm. In the mouth it's very bright with tons of acid. The only fruit flavors are lime. It's dominated by mineral and a slight floral component. A fairly complex wine for the price.

Tasting Notes:

I got this kind of at a whim off of the under $10 table at a small wine shop in Seattle. It sat in the basement for a while until Kathrine made a bulgogi. I thought this red would stand up to the steak well, without overpowering the spice.

In the glass it was a dark ruby color. The nose was licorice and plums. Not very strong and not all that interesting. The first taste I got was blackberry and cherry; a little acid, but not a lot; and very light tannins on the finish. It was very quaffable, especially for the price, but nothing about it really stood out.
