Tasting Notes:
This was wine number two for the farewell dinner. It was paired with a pate de campagne that I worked into a slider. This was my favorite wine of the night, and a great example of Cru Beaujolais. The nose was very Burgundian. You could honestly slide this into a pinot tasting, and it wouldn't stand out. There is an earthieness that works well with the raspberry and plum aromas and that touch of spice that I love. In the mouth the fruit hits your first with an acid backbone that just holds everything together wonderfully. It's medium bodied and a joy to drink. The tannins are nice and silky, and the finish has a great spice to it.

Tasting Notes:
This was the first bottle of wine to go with our Southwest France Christmas dinner. I decanted it and served it with Bleu d'Auvergne cheese, truffle butter, and smoked trout rillette.
The wine was very dark purple. It had an aroma of plums, with a touch of prunes and raisins. On the palate it was fairly thick and fruit forward. Just a slight herbal note, but mostly fruit forward. There were a nice set of tannins that held it together, though they weren't as soft as I'd like.
This wine was very international in style. Not overly oaked, but much more similar to South American Malbec. It had more character, but not enough to really set it apart.

Tasting Notes:
This was the second Christmas wine. I decanted this and then decanted a second time into the bottle. The color was very similar to the first wine. It didn't really show much age. The aroma was much closer to dried black fruit like raisin and prune to the fresh fruit of earlier. It also had a pleasant mineral smell and a whiff of dill. In the mouth it was much more elegant and complex. The tannins were softer and there was just much more to think about. The fruit was much more restrained and the mineral and herbal notes were greater. I enjoyed this wine immensely.

Tasting Notes:
We were having a French bistro inspired meal of fries and French onion soup, so why not a French bistro wine?
In the glass this is a dark garnet color with deep purple highlights around the edge. The aroma was very pleasing with bright read fruits dominating. There was also a hint of smoke and a tiny bit of banana peel, and a slight spiciness.
On the first taste the bright red fruits take over. It's very concentrated and tasty. Raspberry and Cranberry are the two dominate tastes, but they give way to a slight cinnamon taste on the mid palate. The spiciness continues on the long finish with velvety tannins.
This wine is great now. Amazing in fact. It actually might be better with a bit of age. It felt like it still might be slightly closed.

Tasting Notes:
This wine reminds me how much I love a well done pinot gris. It also reminds me how sad I am that they are few and far between. Outside of Alsace, I've tasted maybe two or three that I would recommend. Maybe better domestic versions exist, but when I can get an outstanding wine from Alsace for under $20, why should I bother to look anywhere else?
This wine is a golden color in the glass, and simply opulent on the nose. There are strong aromas of pear and peach, and a slight smokiness to it. In the mouth it is thick and oily, but in a good way. It's off-dry, which is fairly unusual for a wine from Alsace, but it is balanced enough to handle it. The fruit comes forward first, mostly pear; but with a touch of honey. Then I tasted a slight floral component before a citrus zest acidity carried it to the finish. I would have been happy if had ended on that note, but the finish just kept going and a spice notes came to the forefront. I could taste both white pepper and anise.
This wine was almost a baby gewurztraminer. I would be happy drinking this on any occasion.

Tasting Notes:
I've been waiting to try this for a long time, and thought it would go pretty well with some spicy corn fritters.
The first surprise was the color. It was a dark deep golden color. You could tell just by looking at it that it was old. The nose was intoxicating. Lychee, violets, and honey were the most prominent smells; but it was very complex. On the first taste, I was taken back by how thick it was. This was a very thick and opulent wine. The lychee flavor came first with a bit of honey notes, before the floral component took over. On the finish I could taste orange peel, clove, and allspice. I wish I had more of this, because at this price, this was a great gewurz!

Tasting Notes:
I've been looking for an excuse to drink more Beaujolais. I figured a smoked chicken and a nice salad would be the right time.
It's a beautiful color in the glass a translucent deep garnet. At first the nose was pretty closed. You could smell a metallic mineral note and a bit of fruit. After about 15 minutes the wine had really opened up and the mineral had faded slightly to reveal blackberries and cranberry. I could also detect just a hint of banana. The wine is quite light palate There is a nice balance berry fruit with a good acidity and soft tannins. As you drink more of it an earthy flavor and minerality begins to apear under the fruit.
